Field Research

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to do a field work study on my research about greek mythology I would travel to Greece to observe the culture, and conduct interviews. I would begin by observing the modern art that could have any relation with ancient greece. I would observe how the influence of the Greek Gods have affected the architectures, resources, people, and even food. I believe I would be able to find a correlation of how individual Greek Gods and Goddesses have had a huge impact on the Greek society, by witnessing the way of modern greeks. As I observe I would form questions that I could use on my interviews, I would also take notes documenting the day, time, specifics of how the citizens speak and any other fascinating note worth occurrences.

Then again, interviewing not only common greeks but also maybe I could also interview a professor and or historian who specializes in Greek mythology. This would further my understanding and would help me make even better connections on how Greek God and Goddesses legacies still influence the culture. I believe this would be the most fun thing about my field research, because speaking to someone who specializes in the subject would make for more accurate information. Plus it is first hand information straight from the source, on top of that the interviewing process doesn't exactly need to be conducted in Greece but can happen in the states too.

If I were to actually do a field research project, I would remove the observation portion and continue with the interviews. I would first start by setting up interviews with historian form local museums and professors from local colleges and universities that specialise on both ancient and current greece culture. This is something I’m highly considering because like I mentioned above it would be a fun way to gain first hand information.
